Since this one is designed with AGM technology it requires  36V lifepo4 battery very little maintenance, a strong powerful turnover, and a fast recharge. This is an excellent battery for serious anglers who care about their fishing. Whether you need one trolling motor battery or three of them, that’s the first guideline, but there’s more to it than that. And of course, if bargain basement batteries aren’t up to snuff in the first instance, you were penny wise and pound foolish. This is a pretty “vanilla” battery, but that’s meant in a really positive way. It’s proven technology, works with a variety of chargers, and will most definitely not break the bank.

These batteries are great if you are looking for a reliable battery that delivers constant results for you. Some companies offer ten-year warranties, some provide lifetime warranties, and some only offer two or three months. You want to make sure to protect yourself and go for a battery with a decent warranty. Even though batteries may seem like a simple and straightforward purchase, if you want to find the perfect one for you and your boat – there are a few things you should know. In this article, we’re going to cover all the critical factors that make a great trolling battery.

You may sometimes see batteries referred to by their Group number. This is a reference determined by the Battery Council Organisation and is related to the physical dimensions of the battery. But seriously, the Ampere hour is the unit of electrical charge, so the greater the Ah rating of a battery, the longer it will run. Housed in a vibration-resistant casing, the LXD100 has a low self-discharge rate, resulting in extended shelf-life when not in use.

By contrast, car batteries work in a pampered environment, and it’s important to keep that in mind. But they require proper ventilation, can leak and spill acid, don’t hold a charge as well in storage, and can be damaged by the vibrations typical in marine use. Unfortunately, battery tech is confusing, and unless you really do your homework, you’ll shortchange your motor and yourself.

Dual-purpose Or Deep Cycle Battery: Which Is Better?

The warranty provided for your trolling battery will be determined by how and where you purchased it, and whether it was new or second hand. As a general rule of thumb, the majority of providers issue a 5-year warranty with most trolling batteries. This can, of course, be longer or shorter and can be found on the website of the manufacturer. The length of time a battery will produce power for depends on its size. There are 2 things to look at to work out how long a battery will last, these are the ‘Amperage Hour Rating’ and the ‘Motor Amperage Draw’. In technical terms, thrust is the force of flight that pushes things forwards and can be created by both engines and propellers.

They also need to be easy to charge, simple to maintain, and reliable in all weathers and temperatures. There are lots of different models to choose from, so picking the right one is not always easy. An AGM battery has a longer life expectancy, usually between 2-4 years depending on the quality of the battery. These batteries have virtually no maintenance so you’ll likely get the maximum lifespan from an AGM unless you damage it or store it incorrectly. Also, the battery charger (check out our battery charger guide) is an important consideration. Those that bulk charge tend to offer better bursts of short charges, so they probably aren’t the best for fully recharging the battery.

You can use it with more powerful motors and still expect plenty of runtimes, with the 100Ah lasting a good length of time even on more draining motors. They are perfect for applications that call for slow discharge rates such as in trolling motor batteries. They are also preferred in situations where the battery is to be used in environments with higher temperatures – they tend to last longer than other types of batteries. They are also ideal for use in places with low or poor ventilation. Amp-hour ratings show how many amps your battery will give for one hour.
